First of all you need to be clean, more about that later. You can’t start fisting without the proper training. You need to have some experience with being fucked. Even better is to finger yourself, like while taking a shower. It gives you the opportunity to explore your own body and recognizing the signals your body gives when you do something wrong. At long last you might be able to fist yourself if you’re limble enough. You can do it standing up, on your hinges or lying on your side.

To be able to get that deep inside you need a good lube. Good lubes are water or silicon based. They don’t affect rubber (of condoms). However in the fist fuck scene you will see Crisco used very often. It is a veggie butter in the US normally found in a kitchen cupboard. In Europe it’s mainly used by fist fuckers.

Lots of users prefer it over the safe lubricants. It irritates however me and it is furthermore unsafe for rubber. Finally it has a pretty strong odor.

Despite that the use of Crisco is wide spread among fisters. Novelty stores even sell special leather containers for a can of Crisco which you can hookup to your belt as shown in the picture.

Good water based lubricants are e.g. K-Y gel, Wet Stuff and J-Lube. The first sold only in small tubes, also at the better drugstores. For more variety you should go to a sex shop or the internet. You’ll find a great variety in Amsterdam at RoB, Black Body, Bronx and Mr. B, also for sale over the internet.

Some people use veterinary lubricant for sale at the (Dutch) shops such as Welkoop and Cehavé. I’ve tried them also, but these (cheap) lubricants lead for me to internal irritation after frequent use. Irritation that often consists of the feeling of (a not real) urge and sometimes stinging.

In this list J-Lube is a separate story. J-Lube is available at the shops mentioned before. It’s also within the category of veterinary lubricants, but since you make it yourself from the powder acquired you always have fresh stuff. This reduces the risk of bacterial growth in your bottle of lube. Condition is, therefore, that you work as sterile as possible, when you create lube from J-Lube. A disadvantage of J-Lube is that it is very sticky. It looks for that matter very similar to wallpaper paste. To clean it properly ordinary salt is the the most convenient. Personally I prefer J-Lube.

Second choice are the silicon based lubes. Eros is the best known in this category. It is an extraordinary liquid that has an oily feeling and lasts longer. There are other products on the market like Eros with the same ingredients and even in look-a-like bottles. I’m not aware of differences in quality between those products.

Dildos made of silicons and silicon based lubes do not go together! The dildo will dissolve (very slowly) which is easy to recognize by a strong smell and a burning feeling when you put the dildo in your ass.

The best advice on selecting your best lube is to use the various lubes under quiet circumstances and thus make an informed choice.

Using dildos is the easiest way to test lubes. Besides solid rubber dildos, as the one in the picture, I often use inflatable ones. The advantage of the inflatable dildo is that you can push it in entirely. Subsequently you inflate it slowly. Your body will squeeze it out the moment it gets (too) big.
By doing this more often you stretch your sphincter and because you do it from the inside it is much more natural for your body than pushing larger and larger objects in your anus from the outside.
Beware: use a lot of lube and don’t become too courageous. Chances of damaging the tender skin of your sphincter are possible.

 

An additional advantage in using inflatable dildos is that your rectum already is getting used to the feeling of getting something big into it. Even for the experienced fister, who wants to go either deeper or wider, or both, the inflatable dildo is the perfect training partner.

Below are a few examples of inflatable dildos. For a beginner, the inflatable butt plug (first picture) is the ideal start. The broadened base avoids it going in all the way, like in the fourth picture. But because it is not so long, it mainly blows itself up in width and that is exactly what you need as a beginner!

The final part of your preparation is to obtain gloves. Why? First of all for safety, in order not to transfer STDs. Furthermore for hygiene reasons. During fisting, and especially in the beginning, it may happen that a vein in the rectum is slightly damaged. If the top has a small wound on his hand contamination is inevitable. Furthermore gloves provide protection for (sharp) nails. And despite a thorough cleaning out, a small accident is always possible. A glove comes in handy then.

There are three types of gloves available. Latex, vinyl and nitrile. The latex gloves are the most well-known and widely available. These are the gloves that you usually see at the doctor’s or dentist’s. The advantage is that they are elastic and therefore smoothly fit the hand. This way the bottom hardly notices that the bottom wears gloves. Latex gloves are always powdered, to put them on more easily. For some, this powder irritates the anus. In that case, you can ask for powder-free latex gloves.

Vinyl gloves are a bit less common. They can be recognized by their transparency. They are also less flexible than latex and are less powdered. After much trying, I chose vinyl gloves, because of the least irritation afterwards. When buying vinyl gloves also mind the thickness of the material. This makes the glove more flexible and the top knows and feels better what he does. A box of 100 gloves cost about 10 euros at the drugstore.

In fetish shops you also can obtain black nitrile gloves. These are very sturdy and nevertheless give a good feeling. For the real rubber lover there are firm, long gloves that are washable. Only disadvantage is that you hardly feel anything anymore. They are especially suitable for experienced fist partners.

Finally: keep your fingernails short without sharp edges or damages. That also applies when you use gloves!
